Austin “Bud” Wade McCormick, 55, Savonburg, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 in Chanute. Austin was born May 10, 1960, in Sedan to Paul Lee and Patricia Crystal (Loveland) McCormick.

On Oct. 30, 1989, Austin married Debbie Marlene Morehead in Miami, Okla. She survives at their home.

Austin worked for many years as a heavy equipment mechanic. At home he was a handyman and a loving father and grandfather. He loved his dog Buddy like part of his family. Austin enjoyed motorcycles, especially trips to Sturgis and just traveling on his bike with his family and as RV. He was a member, and the Allen County representative, of the ABATE of Kansas motorcycle organization as well as a founding member of the Fine Upstanding Citizens of Kansas bike club. Austin was a member of the Anchor Worship Center in Chanute.

Other survivors include daughters Mindy Rice and husband Jeff, Humboldt, Trina Urfer and husband Brian, DeSoto, Mo., Sauna Berntsen and husband Brandon, Iola, and Angela Fontes and husband Philip, Jr., Independence; brother, John McCormick, Warrensburg, Mo., sister, Crystal Fosdick and husband Lyle, Iola; father-in-law Tommy Joe Morehead; brother-in-law Randy Morehead; 12 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Austin was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Linda Hull, and a granddaughter, Skye Berntsen.

Cremation has taken place.

 

A memorial service will be at Countryside Funeral Home, Johnson Chapel, at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation is from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight at Countryside Funeral Home, Johnson Chapel.
