Visitation for Ethyl Lorraine (Hall) Briggs of Kincaid, whose death on Saturday was reported in Monday’s Register, will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Colony Community Church.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Colony Community Church. The Rev. Steve Bubna will officiate.
She was born Aug. 11, 1923, on a farm five miles north of Garfield, the middle of five daughters of Beverly Allen Hall and Bessie (Sprague) Hall. She graduated in 1940 from Garfield High School. Shortly thereafter the Hall family moved to Lone Elm. She attended Emporia State Teacher’s College for one year and then worked in Wichita at Boeing for several years in the early 1940s.
On Feb. 19, 1946, she married George Wallace Briggs of Lone Elm, the second son of George Henry Briggs Jr. and Cora Rebecca (Hoffmeier) Briggs.
She was a dedicated housewife and mother who loved her family, enjoyed neighbors and was a member of Colony Community Church.
She is survived by sisters, Madeline, Wichita, Ruth, Springfield, Ill., and Jean, Sun City, Ariz.; four sons, Richard and his wife, Dorothy, Dallas, Texas, Gary and his wife, Karen, and Arlyn, all of Kincaid, and David and his wife, Sharry, Lenexa; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Her husband, her first-born son, Robert Eugene, who was still-born prematurely, as well as her sister, Doris, and a granddaughter preceded her in death.
