Billy B. Caudell, Sr., 81, Iola, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at his home.
He was born June 27, 1930, on a farm two miles west of Buffalo, the son of Tom and Bessie (Madison) Caudell. He grew up on the family farm and served in the United States Air Force.
On Dec. 23, 1951, Billy married Myrtle V. Hamilton and they moved to Iola in 1959. In his earlier years he worked in the oil fields and later worked as a heavy equipment operator. He worked at I.M.P. Boats, Haldex and various other jobs before retiring.
His wife of nearly 60 years survives, as do a son, Billy B., Sunny Isles Beach, Fla.; four daughters, Brenda Collis and her huband, Bob, Odessa, Texas, Glenda Stewart, Springdale, Ark., Vada Gillespie and her husband, Gil, Odessa, and Ila Caudell and her significant other, Deryl Sarver, Moran; a sister, Ivy Bell Audiss, Yates Center; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iola. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
