William J. “Bill” Scheibmeir, 80, rural Piqua, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Moran Manor.
Bill was born Nov. 8, 1935, in rural Piqua, the son of Herman Joseph and May Christina (Henson) Scheibmeir. He grew up on the farm at Neosho Falls and graduated from Neosho Falls High School and helped on the family farm. Bill enjoyed beekeeping, playing the piano, especially ragtime, and was a member of the Kansas Fiddler’s & Pickers Association.
He is survived by his brother, Paul Scheibmeir and wife Deb, Iola, and nephew and niece, Joseph Scheibmeir and Megan Scheibmeir, Iola. Numerous cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola, with visitation to follow. Inurnment will be in the Yates Center Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) and may be left with the funeral home.
