William Leon “Bill” Damron, 62, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home in Columbus.
Bill was born Sept. 20, 1954, in Colony, to Walter and Dollie (Loundenbarger) Damron.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1977 during the Vietnam War aboard the USS John McCain in the South Pacific.
Bill is survived by his wife Claudette (Riker), son Brian Bubb, DeRidder, La., daughter Tracy Hutton and husband Chris, Salina; his mother, Dollie, Madison; three brothers, Steve Damron, Heyburn, Idaho, Wally Damron (Donna), Ascher, Okla., and Robert Damron, Madison; three sisters, Patty Gehring (David), Madison, Tammy King (Ed) Chanute, and Kim Hannon (Carl) Iola.
A service of remembrance will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus. Visitation follows until 8 o’clock.
A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Madison. Burial will be in Virgil Cemetery.
