Beulah Mae Heller, 95, of Humboldt died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Humboldt.
She was born June 24, 1915, in Independence, to George Myron and Nona Iola (Freiermuth) Burtnett. She grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1933.
On Aug. 12, 1935, she married Frank P. Heller in Nevada, Mo. They made their home in Oswego until his death on Oct. 30, 1980. She moved to Humboldt in 1981.
She enjoyed fishing and hunting with her husband. She had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Oswego and had volunteered at the senior center in Humboldt for 11 years.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Alice Carey, Humboldt; four nephews and six nieces; and a lifetime friend, Floy Nelson, Iola, and her three sons.
Four brothers, Harold, Clifford, Orval and Howard Burtnett, and two sisters, Nona Marie Plummer and Peggy Moore, died earlier.
Heller will lie in state at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola today and Saturday morning.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
