Beth A. Franklin, 89, Iola, died Friday, July 11, 2014, in Iola. She was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Humboldt, the daughter of Ruth Stewart Braucher and Hawley H. Braucher.

She attended school in Humboldt and was graduated from Humboldt High School in 1942. She moved to Coffeyville and attended Coffeyville Junior College there. She later worked as a receptionist-secretary for Sinclair Refining Co. of Coffeyville until her marriage to Bus V. Yount on July 3, 1947. He preceded her in death in May 1964. Most of their married life was lived in Coffeyville except for a few years when they lived in Titusville, Fla., where she was employed by the Juvenile Court of Brevard County, Florida. Moving to Humboldt in 1964, she was employed by Humboldt National Bank and later by Monarch Cement Company until her marriage to John N. Franklin in Humboldt on Sept. 4, 1970.

Survivors include her husband, John N. Franklin, Iola; two daughters, Ann Mayo, Elmdale, and Jane Barnett, Iola, and their spouses; three stepsons, Robert I., Iola, John O., Jupiter, Fla., Thomas J., Benton, and their spouses. Extended family survivors include 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and one nephew, Greg Dieffenbach and spouse of McKinney, Texas.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Iola. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8 o’clock at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel, Iola.

Memorial gifts to Allen County Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association may be left with the funeral home.
