Bertha Marie Jefferis, 93, Iola, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Windsor Place, Iola.
She was born April 19, 1922, the daughter of Everett and Cora (Schurer) Fults.
Bertha married Leonard Earl Jefferis on April 19, 1941, in Iola. They made their home for over 50 years on a farm south of Moran, until Earl’s death. Bertha later moved from the farm to Iola, where she provided before- and after-school child care for several local families. In later years, Bertha worked as a volunteer at Allen County Hospital.
Due to family health this past year, Bertha resided at Windsor Place. She loved everyone who helped with her care.
She left behind to cherish her memory, her four children: Jerry Jefferis and wife Kathleen, Paola, Rollin Jefferis and wife Darlene, Spring Hill, Jim Jefferis and wife Shirley, Moran, and Colleen Bagnall, Iola; nine grandchildren, Angie, Melissa, Joe, James, Wayne, Darin, Lorinda, Marlene, and Alana; many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Bertha is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Cora Fultz; husband, Leonard Earl Jefferis on Nov. 1, 1993; two brothers and one sister; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Moran, burial to follow in the Moran Cemetery. The family will greet friends at 9:30 a.m., prior to the funeral service.
