Audrea Kay Johnson, 81, Humboldt, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the Northcare Hospice House, Kansas City, Mo.
Audrea was the first of two daughters born to William Lloyd and Ruby Louise (Jackson) Shigley. She was born on April 7, 1936, in Iola. She grew up in the LaHarpe area, attending a country school before graduating from Humboldt High School with the class of 1954. Following high school she worked as a telephone operator. Audrea lived most of her life in the Humboldt area. On Sept. 28, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald Fitzmaurice. Their union was blessed with four children, Debbie, Michael, Shari and Jeffrey. They later divorced. On March 3, 2000, Audrea married Carl Johnson in Humboldt. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2017. Audrea was an accomplished seamstress, making numerous clothes, draperies and quilts. She will be remembered for the countless loaves of bread she made. She enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers, but her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Carl.
Audrea is survived by her four children, Debbie Garcia and husband Patrick, Kansas City, Kan., Michael Fitzmaurice and wife Donita, LaHarpe, Shari Davis and husband Jim, Independence, Mo., and Jeffrey Fitzmaurice and wife Sheila, Humboldt; grandchildren, Katrina Carrillo and husband Eric, Matthew Garcia and wife Taylor, Nichole Hodgden and husband John, Luke Fitzmaurice and Kim Scott, Jamie Merl and husband Steven, Jeramie Davis, Alex Davis, Megan Davis, Garrett Fitzmaurice and wife Hillary and Taylor Coons and husband Mason; great-grandchildren, Gage Carrillo, Keagan Hodgden, Madelynn Hodgden, Taylor Catterson-Williams, Kash Fitzmaurice, Canton Fitzmaurice, Braxton Fitzmaurice and Hallie Fitzmaurice; three stepchildren, Larry Johnson, Nancy Hegwald, and Mickey Johnson; and one sister, Wilma Jean Lytle of Renton, Wash.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 U.S. Hwy 54, Iola. Burial will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and left in care of the funeral home.
