Ann E. Michael, 77, of Colony died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola.
She was born July 23, 1933, on the family farm south of Westphalia, to Clement Francis and Lena Fredricka (Weber) Dieker. She attended St. Teresa’s Catholic School and Westphalia Rural High School.
On Nov. 7, 1951, she married William R. Michael at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Westphalia. They made their home in Westphalia for 24 years and Garnett for three years before moving to Colony in 1978.
She worked in housekeeping at Anderson County Hospital for 10 years and H.L. Miller and Son Dress Factory in Iola before her retirement.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Altar Society in Iola and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Garnett.
She is survived by her husband of the home; six children, Roberta Brecheisen and her husband, Charles, Blue Springs, Mo., Steve and his wife, Susan, Colony, John and his fiancee, Jane Allmand, Lincoln, Neb., Linda Kipper and her husband, Duane, Richmond, Connie Setter and her husband, Jere, Garnett, and Betty Reissig and her husband, Doyle, Colony; a brother, Bernard Dieker and his wife, Lucille, Ulysses; a sister-in-law, Lois Hills, Burlington; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, William Joseph, died in 1981, a grandson, Travis Kipper, died in 1998, and siblings, Clarence Dieker, Robert Dieker and Marie Lutz and several in infant siblings also died earlier.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. Visitation will follow the Rosary in St. John’s Parish Center.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. The Rev. Robert Wachter will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Teresa’s Catholic Cemetery in Westphalia.
