Alta “Allie” Tennyson, 44, Iola, passed away Tuesday at the St. Luke Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
A celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Potts Chapel, Independence, with Pastor Mike Adam of the Solid Rock Baptist Church, Independence, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence.
Visitation hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Potts Chapel.
The family has suggested memorials to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital, which may be left at Potts Chapel.
Alta was born June 1, 1969, in Parsons, the daughter of Forrest D. Sr. and Orella Lee (Ford) Tennyson. She grew up in Humboldt and graduated from the Humboldt school system.
Alta then attended Pittsburg State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and a minor in sociology.
Alta worked as an administration specialists at the Freeman Medical Center in Joplin, Mo.
Survivors include her fiance Gregg Korte, Iola; one daughter, Stevie Bulger and husband Jaime, Webb City, Mo.; two sons, Malchi Schicke, Joplin, Mo., and Dominic Ferguson, Spring, Texas; three brothers, Forrest Tennyson Jr. and wife Norene, Coffeyville, Marion Tennyson, Erie, and David Tennyson, Independence; two sisters, Barbara Adam and husband Mike, Independence, and Cassandra McKellips and husband Richard, Manhattan; and two grandchildren, Landen Warden and Emmie Bulger.
