For its 20th annual summer production, the Allen Community College Youth Theatre program is returning to its melodramatic roots.
Tryouts are from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for Wildcat Katie Brown, Or Oils Well That Ends Well in the ACC Theatre.
The production requires roughly 20 roles, director Tony Piazza said, with actors and actresses ages 13 to 21 welcome to audition.
The Billy St. John melodrama was one of the first summer productions presented by the college, Piazza noted.
We figured with this being our 20th year, we wanted to do something big, that people will enjoy, Piazza said.
Rehearsals will run from 1 to about 4 p.m. June 3-20, with free public performances at 7:30 p.m. June 21-22 at the ACC Theatre.
The project is funded by the Helen Gates Whitehead Testamentary Trust.
