Dillon J. Fullerton, 23, Yates Center, was killed in a one-vehicle accident in rural Crawford County Thursday morning, a wreck that killed another passenger and critically injured two others.
Crawford County Undersheriff Dan Peak announced in a press release that Frontenac police were called to the scene of the accident at 5:19 a.m., about one-half mile north of Frontenac on 230th Street.
The vehicle, a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, was found in the west ditch in a wooded area.
Fullerton and another passenger, Joseph N. Fajardo, 24, Pittsburg, were declared dead at the scene. Two others, Alexander M. Scimeca, 22, Pittburg, and Shashanna L. Valley, 23, Pittsburg, were airlifted from the scene to St. John’s Medical Center in Joplin.
The vehicle was southbound on 230th Sreet, when the driver lost control and entered the ditch, Peak said. The vehicle struck a culvert, which caused the vehicle to overturn several times, ejecting at least two of the occupants.
Authorities were unsure which of the four was driving.
Scimeca, registered as the vehicle’s owner, and Valley both suffered head, neck and spine injuries, Peak said.
Peak said the accident remains under investigation by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.
