YATES CENTER — Benjamin B. Bricker, 31, a band and music instructor for Yates Center USD 366, was arrested Tuesday for an incident that police said happened while he worked as a teacher in 2009 in Missouri.
According to a press release from the Yates Center Police Department, Bricker was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Washington County in Missouri for a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child. Bricker previously worked in the Kingston (Mo.) school district in Washington County, which is part of the metropolitan St. Louis area.
The arrest warrant alleges that Bricker dragged the juvenile “across the floor over band instruments and cases” in November 2009. The child endangerment charge is a felony.
He also was charged with a misdemeanor count of false imprisonment, by knowingly restraining the juvenile, and disturbing the peace, by “not obeying administration’s request to release the child.”
Bricker remains in the Woodson County Jail awaiting extradition to Missouri. His bond is set at $15,000.
