Cameron Lee Chambers, 19, Humboldt, died in a traffic accident Saturday evening on U.S. 169 seven miles south of Cherryvale.
Chambers was riding in a pickup truck driven by Cris Coronado, 20, Humboldt, which collided with a truck driven by Calvin John Schwinger, 23, Cherryvale. According to the Highway Patrol, Coronado’s vehicle was southbound in the northbound lane of the highway when it and Schwinger’s northbound truck collided.
Coronado and Schwinger were transported by helicopter to Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Another passenger in Coronado’s truck, Ryan Cullison, 20, Humboldt, and Schwinger’s passenger, Steven Schwinger, 19, Coffeyville, were taken to a hospital in Coffeyville.
According to friends in Humboldt, Coronado suffered extensive injuries to his legs and suffered broken bones in his face.
