Randolph S. Stinnett, 41, Yates Center, was killed in a traffic accident involving a pair of highway transports west of Kincaid Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Stinnett was southbound on U.S. 59, about 11⁄2 miles west of Kincaid, when the trailer he was pulling with a 2000 Peterbilt was struck by a 2008 Kenworth driven by Roger D. Schocke, 39, Overland Park.
Schocke entered the U.S. 59/K-31 highway south junction and failed to yield to Stinnett’s vehicle, according to the KHP.
The impact from the collision knocked Stinnett’s truck into the south ditch, where it rolled onto the driver’s side.
Stinnett was dead at the scene. Schocke was not injured. A passenger in Stinnett’s truck, Carlee A. Douglas, 9, Yates Center, was transported to Anderson County Hospital for possible injuries.
Both Stinnett and Schocke had been wearing seat belts, according to KHP. It was not known whether Douglas was wearing a seat belt.
