If an overnight winter storm develops as expected, delivery of Saturday’s Iola Register edition likely will not be made until Monday.

The Register’s printing company, based in Independence, Mo., has announced it will not send out its delivery trucks overnight or Saturday if conditions are too dangerous.

Forecasts are calling for a fast-developing winter storm to envelop much of the Central Plains, bringing up to 2 inches of snow across Southeast Kansas, with up to 4 inches of snow possible in the Kansas City area, with north wind gusts as high as 40 mph.

If the papers cannot be delivered for Saturday, the newspaper will be included with Monday’s deliveries.
