Mother Nature is gearing up to bring in 2022 like a lion.

After a docile start to winter, the forecast will take a turn for the cold and wet starting Friday, with a winter storm watch forecast from Friday night through Saturday.

Temperatures are expected to  reach a balmy 60 degrees Friday afternoon, but a passing cold front will bring chances of rain and falling temperatures through the day.

By nightfall, the rain is expected to turn into sleet and snow, coupled with north wind gusts as high as 35 mph.

According to the latest forecasts, the storm could dump as much as 2 inches of snow and a quarter-inch of ice.

As the precipitation ends, the big chill begins.

Saturday’s temps are expected to drop throughout the day, with forecast lows in the single digits.

The nasty stuff won’t last long. Skies will clear by Sunday, with temperatures rebounding slightly for the start of the work week.
