Dr. Brian Wolfe launched the inaugural Walk with a Doc Saturday morning at Allen County Regional Hospital. Wolfe briefly discussed the benefits of exercise to a crowd of about 25 before they embarked on the .75 mile loop that surrounds the hospital. “If you don’t use it, you lose it,” Wolfe said, referring to muscle tone and strength. Exercise also helps ward off all sorts of diseases, helps keep the mind sharp and gives you more energy for other activities, Wolfe said.

Exercising with others is a good way to keep people faithful to a program, Wolfe said, plus helps foster friendships.

It takes about six weeks for exercise to become a habit, Wolfe said, and encouraged newcomers to stick with it. Several on Saturday walked the loop twice to accomplish the recommended 30 minutes of exercise a day.

The next Walk with a Doc is planned for later in July. ACRH sponsors the event.
