Thrive Allen County is hosting several volunteer work days at the Lehigh Portland Trails, starting Saturday, Sept. 24.
Volunteers will work to clear areas of timber debris and weeds.
Volunteers should meet at the east trailhead at Nebraska Road at 9 a.m.
Volunteers are asked to wear weather-appropriate clothing, with a hat, bug spray and sunscreen if necessary, with close-toed shoes and long pants.
Thrive will provide tools and gloves, although volunteers are welcome to bring their own if they prefer to do so.
Specific work locations will be determined proper to each work day.
Future work days are set for Oct. 22 — the same day as the next art installation project along the trail — Nov. 5, Dec. 17, Jan. 21, Feb. 11, March 25, April 15 and May 20.
Work will run until 3 p.m., although those unable to work such long hours can leave when they choose, trail coordinator John Leahy noted.
For more information, contact Leahy at (608) 795-5491 or [email protected].
Regular updates will be posted on the Lehigh Portland Trails Facebook page.
