The bodies of Molly Wilson and her father, John Tadlock, were found Thursday in this home at 114 S. Kentucky St.

Iolan Ben Converse, sought in connection with the Thursday shooting deaths of his girlfriend, Molly E. Wilson, 36, and her father, John Tadlock, 69, has died.

Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office spokeswoman Amy Elliott confirmed to the Associated Press Saturday that Converse had died after he shot himself with a handgun when law enforcement personnel spotted him in Tulsa late Friday afternoon.

The bodies of Wilson and Tadlock were discovered by Iola police officers shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday at 114 S. Kentucky St. Converse, who lived at the house with the pair, was not at home at the time of the discovery. He was listed Friday morning as a person of interest in the case.

By then, the search for Converse had expanded to Oklahoma and Arkansas after Converse reportedly took a car from a Humboldt residence. It wasn’t clear whether he still had the vehicle in Oklahoma.

Officers, including the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshals, tracked Converse to Tulsa, where he was believed to have connections. He fled on foot when officers spotted him. The short chase ended outside an apartment complex in South Tulsa, when Converse shot himself. He was taken to a local hospital.
