Two local teenagers were charged with arson Wednesday, following the Monday afternoon fire that destroyed an Iola garage owned by Glen and Betty Cunningham.
Chance Ayers, 16, and Dylan C. Bryan, 15, were charged as juveniles by Allen County Attorney Jerry Hathaway in Allen County District Court.
The fire destroyed a covered garage, car, lawn mower and stack of fire wood.
Firefighters did not announce a cause of the blaze, which remains officially “under investigation.”
The charges were filed after police investigated several youths spotted in the area about the time the blaze started, shortly after 3 p.m.
