Allen County Farmers Market attendees will have cozier confines on Tuesdays.
Iola City Council members approved Monday a request from Farmers Market organizers to move the Tuesday afternoon sales in Iola to Cofachique Park on North State Street.
For the past several years, vendors set up shop in the parking lot in front of the Westco shopping plaza.
Moving it to the park, roughly three blocks to the north, will allow for more shade for vendors and shoppers alike, and closer proximity to parking.
The plan is to set up the park area at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, with the vendors open from 1 to 3 o’clock, and clean-up complete by 3:30.
The 2023 Farmers Market — which has four different sites throughout the county — opens in May, with the Cofachique Park site the first one up on May 2.
The South Jefferson Avenue sales site on the east side of the courthouse square opens for business from 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 4, and each subsequent Thursday.
Market sites also will be set up on Saturday mornings on the Humboldt downtown square and at the intersection of U.S. 54 and U.S. 59 in Moran, starting May 6. Both markets run from 8 to 11 a.m.
