In one of the more popular botanical efforts in Iola, the Iola Tree Board once again will have its Spring Tree Sale Saturday.

The sale runs from 8 a.m. to noon at the west end of the Recreation Community Building at Riverside Park.

Those seeking to buy one of the 57 trees or bushes should plan to arrive sooner rather than later, said Tree Board member Kristi Sutherland.

“They go pretty quickly, and once they’re gone, we’re done,” she said. “We’ll have people lined up waiting to buy before we open.”

Tree varieties include Shumard and willow oak, autumn blaze and burgundy blue maple, Oklahoma and burgundy hearts redbud and Japanese pagoda.

Bush varieties include double knockout and pink double knockout rose and Tonto crapemyrtle bush.

Prices of the selections range from $15.50 to $25.

Sutherland has information available on how to care for purchases, and how big the trees or bushes will get.
