Three dead in wreck north of Garnett

GARNETT — Three men died in a three-vehicle wreck north of Garnett Tuesday.

Richard Lynn Money, 56, of Richmond, died after his 2010 Mustang convertible crossed the center line for an unknown reason and collided with a 1999 Oldsmobile Eighty-eight driven by Maxarthur Scott Jackson, 27, of Garnett, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. Jackson and a passenger, Shawn L. Gill, 57, of Garnett, also died.

After the two cars collided, both vehicles were struck by a 1995 Chevy S10 pickup driven by Darla L. Thacker, 68, of Garnett. She was taken to Anderson County Hospital for possible injury; a passenger, Albert Eugene Thacker Jr., 39, of Garnett, was not injured.

The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 59, about a mile north of Garnett.

Money was not wearing a seat belt, the report said. Everyone else was.
