HUMBOLDT — Humboldt’s high school and middle school were placed in lockdown briefly this morning after a school administrator received what was described as a threatening social media message from a student.

Superintendent of Schools Kay Lewis said officers from the Humboldt Police Department and Allen County Sheriff’s Department greeted students as they arrived.

Officers searched lockers and backpacks, Lewis said.

She declined to give specifics about the message, nor did Lewis say whether the student was a high-schooler or middle-schooler.

The scene was cleared and lockdown lifted by 8:30, Lewis said.

The case remains under police investigation.
