Lindsey Temaat, a 2019 Allen Community College graduate, has been named Marketing Leader of the Year by Enactus USA, a social entrepreneurship organization.

A Leonardville native, Temaat moved to Iola in the fall of 2017 to attend ACC, where she studied journalism. Now studying communications studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, she was recognized for her role on the executive board of the university’s Enactus team.

Enactus is a global network of student, academic and business leaders who identify needs in their communities and use entrepreneurship to form projects that solve those needs in a sustainable way.

Temaat became the social media director at UMKC Enactus in October, just two months after she joined the team. Since then, she has rebranded the team’s image on social media, curated daily messages for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and grew UMKC Enactus’ Instagram followers by 56% in just five months.

Temaat led a full-scale public relations campaign in March for the launch of Enactus’ FeedKC web application that connects food vendors with excess food directly to food banks serving the hungry. By attracting so much attention online she earned the project five new company partners, two newspaper interviews, and a feature on a local television station. In addition, the project was featured on Enactus WorldWide social media as a positive solution during COVID-19, and was included in a National Geographic article.

“I am honored to even be considered for this award,” said Temaat. “I didn’t know that the team nominated me until I found out I was a semi-finalist! All I can do is thank my team at UMKC, and everyone who helped me get to this point. I wouldn’t be here without the incredible mentors I had in Allen County.”
