Molly E. Wilson, 36, and her father, John Tadlock, 69, were found shot dead Thursday in their home at 114 S. Kentucky St.

Iolan Ben Converse, who was wanted for questioning in their murders, reportedly shot himself Friday evening when approached by law enforcement in Tulsa. Converse was in a relationship with Wilson and also lived in the home.

The bodies of Wilson and Tadlock were discovered by Iola police officers shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday.

Friday morning the search for Converse had expanded to Oklahoma and Arkansas. Converse reportedly took a 2011 Kia Forte from a Humboldt residence. It wasn’t clear whether he still had the vehicle in Oklahoma.

Officers tracked Converse to Tulsa, where he was believed to have connections, and pursued him to an apartment complex at which point Converse apparently turned a gun onto himself, according to the Tulsa World.

Converse was taken to a Tulsa hospital.

His condition was not immediately available.

A bystander told KOTV Channel 6, Tulsa, that emergency personnel administered CPR after Converse was apprehended.

THURSDAY’S discovery prompted Iola police to request assistance from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshals. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department also was on the scene.

Officers sealed off a two-block stretch of South Kentucky Street while investigators combed through the single-story house just north of the old Trinity Methodist Church. The street remained closed until late Friday afternoon.
