Iola High School prom-goers will commemorate the grandest ship of them all tonight when they dance the night away.
The annual Junior-Senior Prom will revisit the grand spectacle that was Titanic, adorning the IHS gymnasium to resemble the liner’s Grand Ballroom.
Festivities kick off with the Grand March at 7 o’clock, although spectators are welcome to watch students arrive to a red carpet greeting at about 6.
The public will be asked to leave at 8 so dancing can commence.
The prom runs from 8 to midnight, at which point the scene shifts to after-prom activities at the Recreation Community Building in Riverside Park.
The after-prom ends at 3 a.m. Sunday.
The silver-haired generation is invited to don tuxes, gowns or any other apparel they choose Sunday for the school’s Senior Citizens Prom at 2 p.m. The seniors’ dance is hosted by the IHS leadership class.
Admission to the seniors’ prom is free.
