PERRY, Kan. (AP) — A trash truck driver who was reported missing after not returning from his route was found dead after his truck slid into the Delaware River during inclement weather, authorities said.
The body of 32-year-old Bernard Singleton, of Topeka, was found Saturday in the river near Perry.
Singleton was driving west on U.S. 24 Friday morning when he lost control of his truck because of inclement weather, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.
The truck struck the guard rail of a bridge and eventually overturned in the river, where it sank, the patrol said.
A dive team from the Overland Park police department helped in the recovery.
