Donations give shelter a boost

PITTSBURG — The Gathering Place, a homeless shelter in Pittsburg, raised $22,000 in year-end donations, according to the Pittsburg Morning Sun.

The donations helped move the needle toward the organization’s goal of $100,000. It’s now half-way there.

The overnight shelter can accommodate up to 16 people. During December’s spell of frigid weather, it allowed 23 to make use of its facility. The shelter also serves meals.

Since the first of the year, 33 individuals have used the shelter’s services, the Morning Sun reported.
