About 4 inches of snow fell during a winter storm this week, less than weather forecasters predicted.

A winter storm moved into the area Tuesday night into this morning, with thick, fluffy snow creating plenty of opportunity for shoveling, sledding and snowman building. About 3 inches of snow fell overnight Tuesday with another 1 inch added since then.
