’Tis the season to shop locally and the Third Annual Downtown Christmas Block Party is making it easier for shoppers. The block party is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Twelve businesses have joined together to create the event.
Audacious Boutique owner Kelly Sigg said the process of the event is simple. A shopper can start at any of the participating businesses and pick up a punch card. As the shopper moves from store to store they can get the card punched. Once they are done looking through the stores and have a complete card the shopper will drop it in one of the stores baskets. Placing the card into a basket enters the shopper into a drawing to win a grand prize.
“At the end of the night we will put all the cards together and draw one,” Sigg said. “The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate from all of the participating businesses.”
The idea of the event is to get every person into every store. It is not required for a shopper to purchase something at every business. Cards will not be available until the night of the event.
“Each business will have refreshments,” Sigg said. “They’ll also have either a store drawing or some type of sale.”
The participating businesses are Around the Corner, Mel’s Place, Peace of Mind, Audacious Boutique, Town & Country, Classy Attic, Salon Nyne, Party Girls, The Market Place, Funkie Monkey, McGinty-Whitworth and Sophisticated Rose.
Following the event Corleone’s will be serving half price appetizers along with drink specials until 10 p.m.
