That means six Republicans will square off in three primary races, with Election Day tentatively scheduled for Aug. 7. That date may change if an accord is not reached soon on congressional and legislative districts in Kansas, which eluded legislators during the session.
Seeking the GOP nomination for county commission position No. 2 are Rob Francis, first-year incumbent, and Tom Williams, completing his second term as sheriff. County commission position No. 3 candidates are Jim Talkington, an Allen Community College trustee, and Don Bauer, who has no previous experience in elective office.
Seeking the Republican nomination for sheriff are Undersheriff Bryan Murphy and Jared Froggatte, a former deputy. Skyler Clark, a former police officer, told the Register he intended to file before the primary, which is his prerogative as an independent.
