Iola Mayor Jon Wells has a decision to make tonight.

Wells will pick from one of seven residents who have submitted their names to replace Michael Middleton on the Iola City Council.

The pick must then be confirmed by the other seven Council members.

The seven who contacted Iola City Hall prior to Friday’s deadline are Robie Fountain, Steven Henderson, Joseph Hess, Loren Mitchell, Kyle King, Kim Peterson and Ashley Varner.

Tonight’s meeting also will cover year-end budget transfers and cereal malt beverage license renewals for 14 local businesses for 2019.

The 6 o’clock meeting, in the New Community Building at Riverside Park, is open to the public.
