The search continues for a robbery suspect who was last seen floating down the Neosho River on a log Wednesday afternoon.

Law enforcement are looking for Iolan Aaron Hutton, who is suspected in an armed robbery at Advance America, a payday loan business at 523 N. State St. The suspect fled in an employee’s vehicle and a man matching Hutton’s description was seen later near residences in Humboldt before jumping into the river as law enforcement approached. He was tracked for several hours, floating down the river as law enforcement officers, including a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter, tracked him. Officers lost sight of him when the helicopter left to refuel. He has not been seen since.

Officers searched the river Thursday, Friday and Saturday but all searches have come up empty, Iola Police Chief Jared Warner said this morning. Any reports of possible sightings have turned out to be other individuals, he said. Authorities planned to meet this morning to discuss the case.
