A pinewood racer constructed by Jeremy Waldman, a first-year Webelos, was the overall winner of the Cub Scout Pack 55 Pinewood Derby Sunday.
The derby was at Allen County Community College. Computer scoring decided races, with some placings determined by a few thousands of a second.
Thirty-two Cub Scouts in the pack, sponsored by Calvary United Methodist Church, competed.
Following Waldman overall were Royce Smith, second, Cail Adair, third, and William Francis, fourth.
Individual race results:
Tiger division: Cail Adair, first; Caden Griffith, second; Robert Cook, third.
Wolf division: William Francis, first; Damien Fulton, second; Skyler Suchy, third.
Bear division: Royce Smith, first; River Hess, second; Jeremy Carlson, third.
Webelos, first year: Jeremy Waldman, first; Breton Plumlee, second; Sean Lewis, third.
Webelos, second year: Jacob Rausch, first; Nathan Sprague, second; no third place.
All qualified for the Osage Nation district level Pinewood Derby.
The Scouts also voted on the racers.
The results: most colorful, Jeremy Waldman; most humorous, Hunter Zimbelman; best looking, Jarek Baughn; best paint job, Kaleb Catterson; most creative, (three-way tie) Brayden Oliver, T.J. Taylor and Sean Lewis.
At the end of the day, siblings of the Scouts competed in “outlaw” races.
