Soggy soil and a threat for more storms will move the annual Allen County Relay for Life indoors Saturday.
The relay will move from its typical spot on the courthouse square to Allen Community Colleges multi-purpose center from noon to midnight Saturday. Weather forecasts call for a chance of showers or thunderstorms Saturday evening.
The event raises money for cancer research, support and education though the American Cancer Society.
The annual Survivor Dinner begins at 5 p.m., also at ACC.
All cancer survivors are welcome.
Opening ceremonies with a survivor lap begin at 6 p.m., followed by a live auction. Some of the items offered include a metal fire pit, a Michael Kors handbag, knife sets, tricycle planter, and handmade barn wood items including an end table, serving tray, coat and hat rack, wagon planter and more.
The annual display of luminaries begins at 9 p.m.
So far, seven teams have signed up to participate. The Iola Sisters are the top fundraising team again this year with $12,929 so far, ahead by nearly $10,000 compared to the team with the next highest fundraising amount (Gates, with $3,108). Fundraising for the event continues.
