The Iola Register won the sweepstakes award in both the news and advertising divisions at last weekend’s Kansas Press Association’s annual convention.

It’s the fifth year in a row the Register has won the sweepstakes in its division of daily newspapers whose subscribers number from 1,500 to 2,200.

Judges from Missouri reviewed entries from across 2022.

The Register’s graphic artist, Kristi Kranker, won 10 first-place awards for her magic in designing advertisements and promotions for the Register’s print and online products.

Other first-place winners were reporters Vickie Moss and Richard Luken for their stories and photos; digital media specialist Grace Garner for the website’s photo albums; Tim Stauffer for the Register’s weekly newsletter, and Susan Lynn for column writing.
