LAHARPE Radio operators from Iola, La-Harpe, Garnett, Lone Elm and Welda attended the annual Iola Amateur Radio Club Field Day exercise Saturday and Sunday.
Field Day is an annual event to encourage emergency preparedness among operators, with more than 30,000 operators taking part.
In LaHarpe, IARC members assembled a portable generator to provide electricity and portable antennas to make contact with stations in all parts of the country. Particpants demonstrated single-sideband voice, Morse code and digital modes.
A potluck dinner was held Saturday evening.
