Quilt show this weekend

One hundred ninety-eight quilts will be exhibited this weekend at the Sunflower Quilters Guild’s quilt show at Iola Middle School, 600 East St. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Techniques used by quilters will include piecing and appliqueing and hand and machine quilting.
Those attending may vote for their favorite on Saturday. Vendors will attend the event and there will be a boutique selling a variety of items.
Tickets will be available for a quilt that will be given away on Sunday. The quilt, “Twilight Blooms,” measures 96 x 108 inches. A person does not need to be present to win. The quilt was made by guild members from Iola, Humboldt, LaHarpe, Kincaid, Chanute and Yates Center.
Admission is $3. Proceeds from ticket sales and show entry will be used by the guild in its efforts to provide quilts for children in the University of Kansas Medical Center, for nursing home residents and patients receiving medical treatments.
