Arrest follows sexual assault allegation
Iola police officers were called Thursday to Regency Inn at the 10 block of North State Street for a reported sexual assault.
Following an investigation, officers arrested Hernandez Huerta, 27, Mesquite, Texas, for suspicion of aggravated sexual battery, criminal restraint, interfering with law enforcement and displaying a fictitious drivers license.
Juvenile faces charges
A series of incidents over several days at Iola Middle School led to the Oct. 3 arrest of a 13-year-old male juvenile for suspicion of aggravated criminal threat, endangering a child and transmitting or communicating false information to request emergency service assistance.
Officers said the juvenile has been accused of pulling a fire alarm at the school, followed several days later by shooting off a bottle rocket inside the building, causing other students to panic.
Charges are being requested through the Allen County attorneys office.
Arrests reported
Iola police officers arrested John W. Zahm, 48, Iola, Monday afternoon for suspicion of interfering with law enforcement and disorderly conduct, after officers were called to a disturbance in the 100 block of North Cottonwood Street.
Iolans Dustin Meek, 32, and Kayla Reeder, 32, were arrested Monday for suspicion of disorderly conduct and pedestrian under the influence in the 100 block of South Kentucky Street.
Officers arrested Robert Nelson III for suspicion of domestic battery Sunday evening in the 500 block of South State Street.
Danielle Costa, 25, Topeka, was arrested Friday for suspicion of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct in the 600 block of North State Street after employees at Rent A Center told police a front window to the business had been broken in the 700 block of North State Street.
Officers arrested Ronald Porter, 28, Iola, for suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and felony interference with law enforcement Thursday in the 500 block of East Spruce Street.
