Man arrested after dispute

A Neosho Falls man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he allegedly damaged a vehicle with a knife during an argument, and then attempted to get a female acquaintance to get back into the vehicle.

Harvey E. Clemens, 44, was arrested for suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault and a count of criminal damage to property, according to Allen County Sheriff Bryan Murphy.

Deputies said Clemens was arguing with the woman while they were traveling along Nebraska Road, between 2800 and 3000 streets, just east of LaHarpe, when they began arguing about the woman’s clothing.

Clemens reportedly pulled out a knife and began cutting into the vehicle’s dash board as the woman exited the stopped vehicle. Their child, meanwhile, was in the back seat.

The woman was running away from the vehicle with Clemens attempting to catch back up to her when deputies arrived.

Deputies said the knife was on the vehicle’s roof when they arrived.

Information about the incident will be forwarded to the Allen County attorney’s office for formal charges.
