Police are continuing to investigate the brief disappearance of an 8-year-old girl that sparked an overnight citywide search.
Katina Brown, Westphalia, was safely returned to her parents Thursday morning after she had been reported missing Wednesday night.
She had been staying at Crossroads Motel with other relatives.
Police and scores of volunteers from the area combed wooded areas near the motel and along streets across much of the community. A phone call to police about nine hours after Brown was first reported missing led to her discovery at a residence in east Iola.
Iola Police Chief Jared Warner said he is awaiting reports from other agencies, and hopes to have the investigation concluded by the early part of next week.
