The Perrys will bring Southern gospel to Iola Saturday evening at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.
The show begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the Southeast Kansas Christian Artists Series. Advance tickets sell for $15 for orchestra seating and $12 for balcony by calling 365-7496. Tickets will be sold at the door for $18 and $15, respectively.
The Perrys, from their beginnings gathered around a family piano in 1970, have cultivated a nationwide following over the subsequent 40 years.
Anchoring the group is the husband and wife duo of Tracy and Libbi Stuffle, who manage the group and handle vocal responsibilities. Tracy sings bass; Libbi, the only remaining original member of the group, sings alto.
They are joined by lead vocalist Joseph Habedank and baritone Bryan Walker. Jared Stuffle, Tracy and Libbi’s son, runs sound for the group. Bryan Elliott is the pianist.
Libbi Stuffle was voted Singing News’ female vocalist and alto singer of the year for 2005 and 2006. Their albums, “The Happy Goodmans,” and “This is the Day,” were voted albums of the year in 2006 and 2004, respectively. They also were named Mixed Quartet of the Year three years in a row from 2004 through 2006.
This is the group’s second appearance in Iola.
