Kevin Shaughnessy of Shaughnessy Brothers Construction, Iola, teams with workmate Michael Genoble to pull a window from the football stadium at Riverside Park Tuesday afternoon, part of an ongoing improvement project to the stadium. The removal was a laborious process, requiring Shaughnessy to clear away bits of mortar, grout and other items from the window seal by using a power chisel. The stadium improvements include a new entrance to the home locker room to prevent flooding, a fully refurbished visitors’ locker room, a new roof, and a fresh coat of paint throughout much of the stadium’s core. The Iola High Mustangs open their home schedule Friday against Prairie View.
