Supporters of Iola’s Community Involvement Task Force/PRIDE Committee can help raise funds and win some goodies all at the same time.
A silent auction and drawing sponsored by CITF for the upcoming Iola Area Chamber of Commerce Business EXPO will be used to raise funds for a giant paint project.
The committee hopes to paint trim around the Recreation Community Building and Iola Muncipal Pool bathhouse. The group has collected $2,000 of the anticipated $2,700 necessary to purchase the paint.
Between now and March 30 — when the EXPO opens — a number of items will be on display at the Allen County
Historical Society Museum for a silent auction.
The items to be sold include:
— Gift certificates to Westco and Walmart in Iola and to the Crown Uptown Dinner Theater in Wichita.
— Ticket packages to several Wichita attractions, including the Botanical Gardens, Wichita State University baseball, Wichita Thunder hockey or the National Baseball Congress Baseball Tournament July 28-11.
— Tickets to the Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.
— A set of jewelry from Precision Design.
— Gift packages from J.R. Good Time Barbecue in Iola.
— A pair of signs from Creative Grafix in Iola.
— A microwave oven.
Organizers also plan a pair of drawings, with winners to be announced at the Chamber EXPO.
A four-pack of tickets to the Kansas City T-Bones baseball game will be given away via a drawing at close of business at the March 30 EXPO.
On March 31, a drawing for assorted Allen Community College apparel will be given away.
Drawing chances are available for a suggested donation of $1 apiece.
Bids and drawing chances are available at the ACHS museum from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Bidding on the sale items also can be done via the historical society’s Facebook page.
