The women of the Adopt-A-Child effort are calling for help. The number of children in need of help has exceeded the amount of people signing up to help.
Adopt-A-Child is an annual effort to get Christmas gifts to children whose families cannot afford to put presents under the tree.
There are 175 children signed up and calls are still coming in.
Iolans can adopt a child or give a cash donation to Emprise Bank, where Adopt-A-Child has an account.
The deadline for gifts to be dropped off at First Baptist Church is Dec. 3.
Cheryl Sparks said the gifts should be unwrapped because they will be wrapping all the presents before the children get them.
