Independence Day
Colony will have fireworks July 4. Hot dogs will be furnished; bring a covered dish at 7 p.m. and enjoy a picnic.
A number of games will follow until dark when when the fireworks show begins. Dexter Wiley and Blake Boone will be on hand for the firework display.
Christian Church
Randy Riebel gave the Communion meditation Sunday, asking How is your marriage? and reminded spouses to look for the good in each other.
Pastor Chase gave the sermon Keeping first things first, referencing Haggai 1, and talking about God putting it on their hearts to rebuild his temple instead of focusing all their energy on themselves.
Movie Night begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Doors will open at 6. There will be two movies, one for the younger kids, and one for the older. The public is invited.
Cowboy Church
Cindy Beckmon started the service Sunday at High Point Cowboy Church with a solo followed by praise and worship.
Pastor Jon Petty, spoke on Hope, reading from Exodus 14:10-12. He discouraged us from being like the Israelites, who complained about their circumstances during the journey and wanted to return to slavery; but instead have hope in Gods promises.
UMC
Scripture shared at Sundays service of the United Methodist Church was Psalm 9: 9-20, 1 Samuel 17: 1, 3-11, 2 Corinthians 6: 1-13 and Mark 4: 35-41. Pastor Dorothy Welch presented the sermon, Just Stay Calm.
Clinic
The Anderson County Hospital Family Care Center South Clinic came to Colony July 1, 2015.
If you see any of the staff, be sure to let them know how much we appreciate having them here. Anderson County Hospital is a member of Saint Lukes Hospital System, with area hospitals and a number of primary and specialty care practices.
Community bingo
Colony Community Bingo is on hiatus until Sept. 13 After that, it will remain the second Thursday of each month.
Story Hour
Twenty-two children and seven youth helpers were in attendance at the June 19 Summer Story Hour. Debbie Wools read three books: Jungle Drums, Stand Back Said The Elephant, Im Going to Sneeze! and The Saggy Baggy Elephant.
At craft time they worked on an elephant noisemaker. Zebra cakes and grapes were served for snack. Story hours return Tuesday and July 10, 17 and 31.
Library
The Colony Library Board met June 1 in the library. Debbie Wools reported Summer Story Hour was going well. Fourteen children attended the first session and 22 at the second.
