Bruce Sanders, guest pianist, played “Blessed Be the Name” for the prelude and “I Will Sing of the Mercies of the Lord” for the offertory.

The morning worship service began by honoring all mothers. Flowers were given to the oldest mother – Naomi Chambers; youngest mother – Breanne Knavel; mother with the most children – Debbie Smail; and mother with the youngest child – Patricia Hodgden.

Pastor Steve Traw’s message “The Impact of the Mother” was taken from 1 Samuel 1:3-20.

Celebrating her birthday on Tuesday this week was Beverly Hawk.

The church fellowship dinner will be at noon Sunday.

Pastor Traw leads Bible study at 3 p.m. Tuesdays on the second book of Corinthians.

Around town

The Carlyle Birthday Ladies Club had lunch at Subway Thursday to honor Beverly Hawk’s birthday. Attending were Naomi Chambers, Pauli Hawk, Joanne McIntyre and the guest of honor, Beverly Hawk.

Visiting Jim and Joanne Thursday were Jim’s sister-in-law Margret Wille, Olpe, and niece Debbie Trahoon, Emporia.
